Owl is a very powerful Spirit.
It is best, not to use Owl feathers for smudging, at least not in public, since some traditional First Nations sensibilities may get offended......

Owl is my hereditary "Miahanit" or" E'eren", as we say in my tribe in Siberia. I always wear one in my hair and that is how the First Nations here recognize me as being from Siberia.
However, the Anishenabe People here as well as Apache, Navajo and many other tribes see Owl as the an omen of death and so avoid Owl feathers. As a matter of fact, Owl is the one, that can "fly" into the land of the dead and tell me, what is wrong with a patient or speak of a cure.... That is why most Siberian healers revere Owl and work with it.
My great grandmother did, my father did and so do I....
Ted Andrews book Animal Speak is a good book for beginners, however his information are not always authentic.
